Hey, let's talk about some dangerous numbers. The federal unemployment rate, reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, counts people who do not have jobs, are available for work and actively seeking employment. The #BLS reported a 4.1% #unemployment rate for July 2026.
The Ludwig Institute for Shared Economic Prosperity, or #LISEP, measures people without jobs, workers who want full-time work but are employed part time involuntarily, and workers earning less than $26,000 a year before taxes.
LISEP reported a functional unemployment rate of 24.9% in July, six times higher than the federal figure.
If a quarter of your working age population cannot find labor that allows them shelter, food and necessities, then you are sitting on a powder keg.
